Why I Walk

Every year, people of all ages and backgrounds come together to walk through the streets of their cities—not out of necessity, but out of solidarity. Children, elders, families, longtime advocates, and new supporters all take part in the Winter Walk, united by a shared commitment to ending homelessness.

Each step taken honors the dignity and humanity of our unhoused neighbors. And every person who walks has a reason—a personal story, a connection, a call to action.

In this collection, we invite you to meet a few of the people who walk. Their voices reflect the heart of the Winter Walk: diverse, compassionate, and driven by a belief that homelessness should not be met with silence, but with community.
