Homeless Education Advocacy & Leadership
Winter Walk’s Exclusive Storytelling Curriculum
The Winter Walk utilizes education and storytelling as powerful tools to lift up the voices of individuals who have experienced homelessness, while also aiming to break down the negative stigmas that surround this critical issue. Through our efforts, we ultimately foster meaningful systemic change. We have developed a comprehensive storytelling program that actively engages our communities and provides essential guidance on how to listen to the experiences of those around them, especially before they begin their direct volunteering efforts with individuals who call the streets and shelters home. By hearing and telling stories, we effectively redefine what people understand about homelessness, initiating the process of breaking down stigma and creating a new narrative. This allows for a deeper understanding of homelessness and the complex issues surrounding it. By listening to these firsthand accounts of homelessness and meeting those individuals who have lived through it, participants' perspectives will undoubtedly change, leading to the creation of a transformative and new narrative that fosters empathy and connection.
